Dana Jeľková - Icelandic Tourist Guide

in the amazing land of hot springs, glaciers, volcanoes, trolls, beautiful mountains, waterfalls, bird cliffs and black beaches

I was born in the Czech Republic (Czechoslovakia at that time) and spent most of my life there. In 2007 I moved to Iceland and have lived there since.
At the age of 9 I started exploring and enjoying the world in hiking boots and became a real outdoor enthusiast.
I studied catering, hotel and tourism management at secondary school and English and Geography at university in the Czech Republic.
In 2010 I gaduated from Icelandic Tourist Guide School and became a licenced touritst guide in Czech and English languages with hiking specialisation.
Since September 2010 I am undergoing a 2-year-trainee program at Air Ground Rescue Team in Reykjavík.
Among my biggest hobbies are hiking and backpacking, of course, orienteering, geocaching and all kinds of crafts.
